Hello, thank you for visiting our website and considering us for your next German Shepherd. My name is Joel McNees and I am the main trainer and eyes behind our breeding program. Here at Vom Grossen Himmel we believe breeding for health and temperament are priority. The goal of our breeding program is to bring the healthiest German Shepherd possible and have dogs that you can take any where and do anything with. Whether that’s service dog work, being a companion, or competing in IGP or any AKC event you see fit.
 
I fell in love with the German Shepherd when I was in Afghanistan. It was while serving in the Army as a Combat Medic we had a dual purpose dog that was absolutely clear in the head. It wasn’t until I got home from Afghanistan that my wife and I decided to adopt our first AKC German Shepherd. It was because of this male I decided I wanted to get into breeding. Unfortunately, due to cancer we had to put him down at an extremely young age. This is what prompted our endeavor of breeding healthy dogs with stable temperaments. To ensure we offer the highest quality puppies all of our dogs are health tested and go through temperament testing. We believe in breeding to the SV standard which entails our dogs being training in tracking, obedience, and bite work.
 
While going through this training we are able to see the temperament and training abilities of our German Shepherds. For me I want a dog that is stable enough that can fly on a plane as a service dog and be able to get off and do protection work. I want dogs that are healthy enough that hips and elbows are not a concern for their families. We try our best by screening our dogs for passing hips and elbows while also doing an embark panel on all of our dogs we can ensure DM is not passed on.
 
While we do our best to make sure hip or elbow dysplasia does not affect your puppy, if it does we offer a guarantee for a replacement puppy. Please ask us for these details. I am proud to say we have Champion German Shepherds in our home. Our dogs are family first and live with us. We don’t have that traditional kennel environment. My puppies interact with my kids daily and are raised in home.
